General information

Renowned as China's cradle for the national electronic industry, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (formerly Chengdu Institute of Radio Engineering) is situated at Chengdu, the city of over a thousand-year-old cultural history in "the land of abundance". In 1956, instructed by Premier Zhou Enlai, UESTC was founded on the basis of the incorporation of electronic divisions of the then three universities including Jiaotong Universities, Nanjing Institute of Technology and South China Institute of Technology. As one of the seven earliest key universities in national defense, UESTC became one of the nation's key universities in 1960. Then, in 1997 it was included as one of the first universities into "Project 211", a project in China for developing 100 first-class universities and a number of key fields of research for the 21st century. In 2001, UESTC was admitted into the nation's Project 985, receiving special support for developing world-class universities and world-famous research-oriented universities.

Fifty years'efforts and cultivations have witnessed the University's process from sole dependence on electronic information engineering to all-around programs in electronic disciplines, and the University now turns out to be a key multidisciplinary university with electronic science and technology as its nucleus, engineering as its major field and featured the harmonious integration of science, engineering, management and liberal arts, well prepared at the call of the history to come up as a high-level research-oriented university.

History of the UESTC

In 1956, Chengdu Institute of Radio Engineering (CIRE), the first electronic information institute of higher education in new China, was founded.
In 1960, Chengdu Institute of Radio Engineering was proclaimed, by the Higher Education Ministry of the State, as one of the country's National Key Institutes.
In 1988, Chengdu Institute of Radio Engineering was renamed University of Electronic Science and Technology of China.
In 1997, the University was included into “the State's Education Revival Project” for the top one hundred key universities (Project 211).
In 2000, the University was transferred to the MOE-university system, hence a national key university directly affiliated to the State's Ministry of Education.
In 2001, the University was admitted into the State's “Project 985” for the top 34 universities in China.
In 2007, Qingshuihe Campus occupying an area of 4000-plus mu (219 hectors, or 540 acres) was put into use.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS (TAUGHT IN ENGLISH)

I、Program Introduction

UESTC's 22,000 undergraduate students benefit from studying in one of China’s foremost university, where faculty devote much of their time and energy to teaching and advising undergraduates. Established in 1956, UESTC holds a high reputation in Electronic Engineering area in china. The University is committed to building a diverse campus community to ensure that students explore their interests, discover new academic and extracurricular pursuits, and learn from each other. UESTC is making its education accessible to students from a broad range of cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds.
Our curriculum encourages students to explore many disciplines and to develop a deep understanding in one area of concentration. English-instucted courses are offered in the undergraduate program.


II、Features of the program
(1) High Quality Teaching Resources: 2 national teaching bases, 3 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 14 national and 22 Provincial characteristic specialties
(2) Curriculum System: courses include common core courses, disciplinary core courses and disciplinary optional courses.
(3) Practical Training: UESTC offers a wealth of practical training opportunities, both in and outside the laboratory.
(4) Scientific Innovation Activities:the Students’ Scientific Innovation Center helps to cultivate the students' consciousness and spirits of innovation and to enhance innovative capability.
(5) Postgraduate Candidates Exempt from Admission Exam

III、Application period
20th January to 20th June. Applicants must be at the age between 18-35 years old, and have attained a senior high school diploma.


IV、Fee
Tuition fee is 31,200 RMB (corresponding to about 4,175 Euro or 4,670 USD, as of August 2016).

Accommodation fee is separately charged.

 

V、Application Materials
(1) One photocopy of your valid passport;
(2) The Highest Diploma, which should be certified copies in Chinese or English;
(3) Official academic transcripts(certified copies);
(4)Physical Examination form.if you are already in China, the valid visa page is required;
(5)Personal Resume: Please write your personal experience till this year in your personal resume, in English;
(6)Personal Statement: Please write your personal introduction and study plan in your personal statement in English or Chinese language.
(7) Others: kinds of certificates, including sports, arts and other relevant certificates, are warmly welcome.
